SEED is looking for volunteer tutors to help with Seed Homework Club (K-12) and our Adult ESL classes.

why should i volunteer with seed?

By volunteering with SEED, you'll help empower refugee families in the Bay Area, develop your skills in tutoring and teaching in a multicultural environment, and grow through serving and building relationships with members of your community.

What kind of volunteers are you looking for?

SEED is looking for tutors who are:

  • Open and respectful towards different cultures

  • Patient and knowledgable when working with children and adults with limited knowledge of English

  • Motivated to help others grow academically and socially

  • Aligned with our mission, vision, and values

Previous tutoring/teaching experience is a plus, but not required - SEED also provides professional training. The most important qualities we require are a positive attitude, patience, and openness towards learning new skills in an education-focused environment!

SEED tutors should also be dependable and able to commit to at least one session per month for a period of six months. This consistency is absolutely key to SEED’s mission and values, as we want our students to grow together and develop relationships of trust with our tutors.

As a tutor, you’ll be provided with all the necessary resources (books, school materials, staff support, etc.) to help your students learn and succeed. We recognize and are grateful for all the time and efforts of our volunteers.
